Kate B. Maxwell

Kate B. Maxwell is an independent journalist in Northern California and the founder of the News Go Bag Project, which provides tools and support for local news outlets and journalists before, during, and after emergencies and disasters. 

Previously, she was the co-founder and publisher of The Mendocino Voice, a nationally-recognized independent online local news outlet started in 2016, and received a JSK Stanford Community Impact Fellowship (2021 and 2022) and an RJI Innovation Fellowship (2023). Her award-winning print and broadcast reporting has been published in a variety of local and national outlets, and she has been a featured speaker at conferences, workshops, and trainings.
